ULW- The Lightweight Alternative. For years, warfighters have experienced the negative effects of wearing burdensome, heavy equipment on missions. Fatigue, lack of mobility and back pain are only a few of the many symptoms Soldiers have due to excessive equipment weight they must carry in the battlefield.
To answer the call for lightweight equipment, BAE Systems has developed Ultra Lightweight Warrior (ULW). Factors such as ballistic coverage and performance, systems integration/interoperability, human factors and power usage were key in the development of ULW. The results have lead to a significant decrease in a warfighter's potential load without compromising protection. Through advanced research and development, BAE Systems is introducing to market lightweight versions of an advanced combat helmet, integrated tactical vest and plate carrier, load carrying systems, soft and hard body armor and an integrated, wearable power system.
